Carmakers See Growth in Auto Sales in June
Automakers were expected to say Friday that new-vehicle sales in the United States rebounded slightly in June after a disappointing May but were again slowed by inventory shortages and fewer discounts.
General Motors, the first major carmaker to provide results, said its sales increased 10 percent last month compared to a year earlier. With gas prices still high in much of the country, sales of G.M.’s passenger cars rose 28 percent, while crossovers were down 2 percent and trucks were up 5 percent.
